Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua called for high-quality efforts to complete the census of China's poverty alleviation work.
Hu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and also head of the State Council's leading group on poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks at a teleconference on June 30 in Beijing.
Hu said that the census is essential in evaluating China's poverty relief outcomes, adding that quality should be prioritized to ensure that it can withstand tests from all other sides.
He urged objective and consistent census measurements, as well as true and accurate statistics, with efforts to implement quality management and prohibit man-made interference and dishonesty.
Work should be done to improve mechanisms and to formulate road maps and timelines, to ensure that the census can be completed as scheduled, Hu said.
Related departments across regions should strengthen supervision and guidance, and enhance coordination to forge a strong joint force in conducting the census, Hu stressed.
