China will continue to expand imports of high-quality consumer products, boost the role of opening-up platforms, create a sound market environment for enterprises from different countries, and further deepen bilateral, multilateral and regional cooperation, Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua said on May 6.
Hu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the first China International Consumer Products Expo in Haikou, South China's Hainan province.
While reading a letter of congratulations from President Xi Jinping, Hu said the letter made clear China’s willingness to harness the advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port to facilitate free flows of production factors and widespread cooperation for a better future.
China’s consumer market is seeing new trends, such as growing new types of consumption, accelerating integration between online and offline consumption, increasing consumer product imports, and robust rural consumption, Hu said, adding they will underpin economic growth and bring enormous business opportunities for companies around the world.
Hu called for joint efforts to make China’s international consumer products expo a unique success and an important platform striving for mutual benefits and win-win results among all participating countries.
