Vibrant small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and a diversified and differentiated economic ecology are the most important guarantees for China’s resilient economy, Vice-Premier Liu He said on July 27.
The vice-premier, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks via video link at a national forum on SMEs held in Changsha, capital city of Central China’s Hunan province.
In the past year, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the country’s SMEs have made great achievements and witnessed rapid and healthy development with the spirit of innovation, he said.
The soul of "specialized and new" firms is innovation. Sci-tech innovation is more like a survival problem than a development issue, he said, urging entrepreneurs to focus on main businesses and innovation promotion.
Liu stressed protecting intellectual property, creating a sound business environment in a market-driven, law-based and international way, and cultivating specialized and new enterprises. The capital market will facilitate the development of SMEs, he added.
