AUCKLAND, New Zealand — The visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed relief and support here on Sept 5 over a permanent truce within Ukraine.

Questioned by media, the Chinese official said his country hopes that the two sides faithfully implement the truce, which is in line with fundamental and long-term interests of Ukrainian people.

“Ukraine crisis remains a complicated and sensitive issue, which requires a solution that can bring together different ethnic groups and regions through inclusive dialogue,” he said.

The dispute between Ukraine and neighbor Russia needs a political solution as well, he said, noting that China hopes to see Ukraine-Russia relations back onto the right track.

China has brought about a series of proposals to resolve the Ukraine crisis with a focus on urging all relevant parties to seek political solution on a table.

Ukrainian army has clashed with militia in eastern part of the country since early April till a sudden truce was announced on Sept 5.

Kiev has accused of Moscow at the back of the escalating clashes, a claim repeatedly denied by the Russian government.
