BEIJING — Chinese senior high school students will use newly compiled textbooks on Chinese, history and ideology and politics in the autumn semester starting on Sept 1.
The new textbooks will first be used in six provincial-level regions, including Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, and will cover students nationwide by 2022, according to the country's education ministry.
Traditional Chinese culture is highlighted in the textbooks. For example, the new Chinese textbook boasts a selection of 67 classic works of ancient poetry and prose, accounting for 49.3 percent of the total articles.
