BEIJING — China's Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Oct 15 that new cooperation models between universities will be promoted to contribute to the country's poverty alleviation fight.
The MOE pledged to strengthen cooperation and exchanges among higher education institutions in poverty alleviation work to address the needs of poor areas.
Meanwhile, more support will be given in terms of talent and science and technology services for universities' participation in poverty alleviation, as well as establishing a pool of experts in relevant fields, according to the ministry.
Currently, 75 universities directly under the MOE have participated in poverty alleviation.
China has introduced a series of measures in recent years to ensure that extreme poverty will be basically eliminated by the end of 2020.
