BEIJING — The Chinese government launched an inter-department campaign to promote traffic safety that will run until the end of this year, according to an official directive published on Nov 13.
As a key part of this campaign, traffic police will step up supervision and inspection, according to the directive jointly issued by eight departments including the ministries of public security, education, justice and transport.
The education departments will supervise schools to launch awareness programs among students, and the traffic administrations will push transport businesses to introduce more safety training of their employees.
The campaign will also enroll college students as volunteers and broader media publicity.
