China advances evaluation system for culture and museology professionals
Updated: December 4, 2019 17:24 Xinhua

BEIJING — A guideline has been released by Chinese authorities to evaluate the job titles for professionals in fields related to cultural relics.

The guideline, jointly released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Cultural Heritage Administration, said the job title evaluation for cultural relics professionals should not be made merely according to an applicant's educational background, qualifications, thesis publication or awards.

The professionals' working experience in remote, poverty-stricken areas or at the grassroots level, as well as their technological achievements, should be taken into consideration in the evaluation, said the document.

Over 160,000 people are employed in museums and cultural relics-related industries in China, including 50,000 museum experts and cultural relics researchers.
