BEIJING — China's Ministry of Civil Affairs is recruiting experts in the field of elderly care services to promote the healthy development of the sector and better cope with an aging population.

Personnel engaged in theoretical and policy research or practical aged care services in central and state organs, their affiliated policy research institutions, Party schools, institutions of higher learning and local civil affairs departments, among others, are eligible to apply, the ministry's elderly care service bureau said in a statement Dec 10.

Relevant experts need to have profound research or practical expertise in terms of aged care service regulations and policies, facility construction, operation management, standardization, quality supervision, personnel training, investment and financing or elderly rehabilitation aids.

The bureau will invite recruited experts to participate in investigation and research, project evaluation and policy drafting, according to the statement.

Experts will also attend forums, offer suggestions on old-age care services and take part in related work in various localities across the country.

China is expected to have a population of 487 million aged 60 or above by around 2050.
