BEIJING — China has strengthened the supervision of law enforcement related to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic to further improve the epidemic prevention work and to coordinate it with economic and social development, said the Ministry of Justice.

Judicial administrative organs should strengthen the supervision of law-enforcement on illegal acts including resisting epidemic prevention measures, committing violent acts against doctors, illegally trading wildlife animals and disrupting the market and social orders, according to an official with the ministry.

The ministry also has urged enhancing guidance on law enforcement to provide accurate legal basis and procedures for administrative authorities to strictly enforce the law and has called for prudent decision-making in introducing emergency response measures such as quarantine or closing certain places to minimize damage to the public and businesses.

Administrative law enforcement agencies at all levels are asked to guide enterprises and people to handle business online or make appointments before going to service halls, the official said, adding that special arrangement should be made in accordance with the law for urgencies related to epidemic prevention and the resumption of work and production.

The ministry has called for the improvement of the mechanism for handling complaints and reports and has required all administrative law enforcement departments to disclose contact information for public supervision.
