BEIJING — China will tighten approval and quarantine of wild animals that are used for scientific research, medical and display purposes, in an effort to implement the country's new decision on thoroughly banning the illegal trading of wildlife.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, it will harshly penalize activities including hunting, trading, transportation and eating of wild animals.

Earlier this week, China's top legislature adopted a decision on thoroughly banning the illegal trading of wildlife and eliminating the bad habits of eating wild animals to safeguard people's lives and health.
