BEIJING — A total of 1,535 patients of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were discharged from hospital after recovery on March 8 on the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said on March 9.

In total, 58,600 patients had been discharged from hospital by the end of March 8, the commission said in its daily report.

As of March 8, a total of 80,735 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 had been reported on the mainland, and 3,119 people had died of the disease.
