BEIJING — A total of 52 patients of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were discharged from hospitals on April 16 on the Chinese mainland, according to the National Health Commission.

Altogether 77,944 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by the end of April 16, the commission said in its daily report on April 17.

As of April 16, 82,367 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, and 3,342 people had died of the disease.
