BEIJING — The Chinese coast guard and fishery authorities announced on April 29 that they would launch a campaign to enhance law enforcement as this year's summer fishing moratorium will start in the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the waters north to 12 degrees north latitude of the South China Sea.
The China Coast Guard and the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will start the campaign on May 1 to strengthen port monitoring, maritime patrols, fishing boat regulation and the crackdown on illegal activities.
Local authorities will be asked to publicize the fishing ban policy, which is regarded as the most important and effective system for protecting the fishery resources in China.
