BEIJING — Forty-six patients of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were discharged on May 6 from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said on May 7.

Altogether 77,957 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by the end of May 6, the commission said in its daily report.

As of May 6, 82,885 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, and 4,633 people had died of the disease.
