The National Development and Reform Commission recently issued a circular, urging all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, listed cities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the State Grid Co Ltd, among others, to extend the power consumption cost reduction policies for enterprises, in an effort to sustain sound employment, people's welfare, and interests of market entities and reduce enterprises' operating costs.

According to the circular, the preferential policies will cover industrial and commercial business, excluding high-energy-consuming industries.

Power grid enterprises will offer a 5 percent discount from July 1 to Dec 31.

Pricing authorities in all regions should navigate power grid enterprises through fully implementing the related policies, publicize the policies, beef up supervision on fee-charging generated from transferring power supplies for commercial complexes, industrial zones, office blocks, in a bid to fully benefit end-users.

In addition, power grid enterprises should be proactive in notifying users and fully carry out the preferential policies with immediate effect.
