BEIJING — Chinese health authority said on Aug 6 that it received reports of 37 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on Aug 5, including 30 locally transmitted.
Of the locally-transmitted cases, 27 were reported in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and three in Liaoning province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.
Of the seven imported cases, five were reported in Shanghai and one each in the provinces of Shandong and Shaanxi, the commission said.
No deaths related to the disease or new suspected COVID-19 cases were reported on Aug 5, the commission said.
On Aug 5, 10 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said.
By the end of Aug 5, a total of 2,110 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,008 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 102 remained hospitalized, with one in serious condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.
As of Aug 5, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 84,528, including 837 patients who were still being treated, with 34 in severe condition.
Altogether 79,057 people had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 had died of the disease on the mainland, the commission said.
There were still two suspected COVID-19 cases, it added.
According to the commission, 23,985 close contacts were still under medical observation after 474 were discharged on Aug 5.
