BEIJING — The National Health Commission said on Aug 8 that 35 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Aug 7.

There were 839 patients still being treated, including 42 in severe conditions, the commission said in its daily report.

Altogether 79,123 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Aug 7, the report said.

As of Aug 7, a total of 84,596 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
