BEIJING — The National Health Commission said on Aug 24 that 30 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Aug 23.

There were 408 patients still being treated, including 14 in severe conditions, the commission said in its daily report.

Altogether 79,925 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Aug 23, the report said.

As of Aug 23, a total of 84,967 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
