BEIJING — The National Health Commission said on Sept 24 that eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Sept 23.

There were 167 patients still being treated, the commission said in its daily report.

Altogether 80,513 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Sept 23, the report said.

As of Sept 23, a total of 85,314 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
