Chinese mainland reports no new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING — No new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported on Oct 3 across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said on Oct 4.

At the same time, a total of 16 confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported, the commission said in its daily report.

Three new suspected cases, all imported, were added, while no new deaths related to the disease were reported, the report added.

Of the new imported cases, six were reported in Guangdong, three in Sichuan, two each in Yunnan and Shaanxi, and one each in Tianjin, Shanghai, and Guangxi, the commission said.

On Oct 3, 10 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said.

By the end of Oct 3, a total of 2,901 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,706 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

As of Oct 3, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 85,450, including 195 cases still under treatment, of whom all were imported, with one in severe condition.

Altogether 80,621 patients had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 had died of COVID-19 on the mainland, the commission said.

There were currently seven suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland, it added.

According to the commission, 7,439 close contacts were still under medical observation.

A total of 26 new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported on Oct 3.

The commission said 366 asymptomatic cases, including 364 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By Oct 3, 5,108 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in the Macao SAR, and 517 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,849 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 484 in Taiwan, had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
