BEIJING — China's Internet regulators have launched a campaign to rectify two harmful online practices, namely the deletion of particular online posts for profit and the publication of soft pornographic content.

The Cyberspace Administration of China announced the new measures at a nationwide teleconference on Nov 5.

Sheng Ronghua, deputy head of the administration, said at the press conference that the practice of paid deletion of online posts disturbs public opinion and harms the legitimate rights and interests of Internet users and companies.

Soft pornographic content on the Internet goes against public order and social morals, and it is especially harmful to teenagers, Sheng noted, calling for strict investigation and punishment of related online accounts, platforms and personnel.
