BEIJING — Twelve COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Jan 2, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Jan 3.

There were 395 confirmed cases still being treated, including nine in severe conditions, the report showed.

As of Jan 2, the Chinese mainland had reported a total of 87,117 confirmed COVID-19 cases, among whom 82,088 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 4,634 died of the disease.
