BEIJING — The Chinese mainland on Feb 3 reported 30 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 17 locally transmitted, the National Health Commission said on Feb 4.
Of the locally transmitted cases, eight were reported in the province of Jilin, four in Heilongjiang, three in Shanghai, and two in Hebei, the commission said in its daily report.
Thirteen new imported cases were reported, including five in Beijing, three each in Fujian and Guangdong, and two in Shanghai.
One new suspected COVID-19 case from outside the mainland was reported in Shanghai, and no new deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission said.
The same day saw the discharge of 135 COVID-19 patients from hospitals following their recovery.
By the end of Feb 3, a total of 4,758 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 4,454 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 304 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among imported cases.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 89,649 by Feb 4, including 1,411 patients still receiving treatment, 49 of whom were in severe conditions.
A total of 83,602 patients had been discharged following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus, according to the commission.
There was one suspected COVID-19 case on the mainland on Feb 3, and 34,184 close contacts remained under medical observation.
Feb 3 also saw 12 asymptomatic cases newly reported, with 11 of them arriving from outside the mainland. On the same day, six asymptomatic cases were newly re-categorized as confirmed cases.
A total of 788 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, of whom 277 arrived from outside the mainland.
By the end of Feb 3, 10,530 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 185 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 47 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 917 cases, including eight deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.
A total of 9,633 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 46 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 834 had been discharged in Taiwan.
