Chinese mainland reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, all imported

BEIJING — The Chinese mainland on May 29 reported 11 new COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on May 30.

Of the new cases, five were reported in Shanghai, two in Fujian and one each in Inner Mongolia, Guangdong, Sichuan and Shaanxi, according to the commission.

No new suspected cases or new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on May 29, it said.

A total of 6,044 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of May 29. Among them, 5,749 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 295 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 91,072 by May 29, including 319 patients still receiving treatment, four of whom were in severe condition.

A total of 86,117 patients had been discharged from hospitals following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on May 29.

A total of 22 asymptomatic cases were newly reported, 13 of which were local cases reported in Guangdong. There were a total of 412 asymptomatic cases, of whom 363 were imported, under medical observation by May 29.

By the end of May 29, 11,837 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 51 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 7,806 cases, including 99 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,571 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 49 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 had been discharged in Taiwan.
