Chinese mainland reports 53 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING — The Chinese mainland on July 30 reported 53 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on July 31.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 30 were reported in Jiangsu, 12 in Henan, four in Hunan, three in Yunnan, and one each in Fujian, Shandong, Hubei and Ningxia, according to the commission.

Also reported were 22 new imported cases, of which seven were reported in Yunnan, five in Shanghai, three in Tianjin, two each in Inner Mongolia and Guangdong, one each in Zhejiang, Henan and Sichuan.

One new suspected case was reported in Shanghai, arriving from outside the mainland, while no deaths related to COVID-19 were reported, the commission added.

A total of 7,432 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of July 30. Among them, 6,762 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 670 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 93,005 by July 30, including 1,022 patients still receiving treatment, 25 of whom were in severe condition.

A total of 87,347 patients had been discharged from hospitals following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on July 30.

A total of 37 asymptomatic cases were newly reported. There were a total of 443 asymptomatic cases, of whom 386 were imported, under medical observation on July 30.

By the end of July 30, 11,984 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 212 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 59 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 15,674 cases, including 787 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,713 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 54 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 12,856 had been discharged in Taiwan.
