BEIJING — The Chinese mainland on April 30 reported 916 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 788 were in Shanghai, the National Health Commission (NHC) said on May 1.
Apart from Shanghai, 13 other provincial-level regions on the mainland saw new local COVID-19 cases, including 53 in Beijing.
Shanghai also reported 7,084 locally-transmitted asymptomatic infections of the novel coronavirus on April 30, out of a total of 7,340 local asymptomatic carriers newly identified on the mainland.
A total of 3,447 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on April 30, the NHC said.
That brought the mainland's total number of COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovery to 187,525 as of April 30.
A total of 38 new deaths from COVID-19 have been reported, all in Shanghai, according to the NHC.
