Updated: November 24, 2022 21:59 Xinhua

BEIJING, Nov. 24 -- China will make greater efforts to ensure the supply of daily necessities, especially for the residents in areas hard hit by COVID-19 resurgence, an official with the Ministry of Commerce said Thursday.

More efforts will be made to ensure adequate distribution capacity in closed-off management areas, with priorities given to the elderly, children, pregnant women, patients, and the disabled, ministry spokesperson Shu Jueting told a press conference.

The ministry will continue to monitor the prices of necessities on a daily basis, arrange the release of pork reserves, and improve cross-regional coordination to ensure supplies, Shu said.

At present, the market supply of the daily necessities across the country is generally sufficient, and the wholesale prices of pork, eggs and vegetables all dropped compared with the beginning of the month, Shu added.
