State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe met with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus in Minsk, capital of Belarus, on April 6.

Lukashenko sent his congratulations to President Xi Jinping on his re-election as China’s president and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Belarus would be a permanent and reliable partner of China, said Lukashenko. It will firmly support the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi, and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership with China to safeguard regional security and stability, he added.

Wei conveyed President Xi’s greetings to the Belarusian president. China and Belarus are good friends, and the two sides have pushed forward the comprehensive strategic partnership for win-win results, Wei said.

China is working to achieve the Chinese dream. It would like to work with Belarus to put in place major consensus reached by the two leaders, and to lift the military cooperation to a new level, Wei said.

The state councilor also met with Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov on the morning of April 6, and reviewed the guard of honor of the Belarusian military.
