State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on March 21.

Mohammed said he highly valued the age-old bond between China and the United Arab Emirates since the historic Silk Road came into existence, and the bilateral ties have been enriched over the past few years.

The two countries reached consensus on all fields last year during President Xi Jinping’s state visit, charting the course for long-term development of the China-UAE relationship.

As a leader of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed said, he is willing to help the bilateral ties scale new heights.

Wei said that China-UAE ties have grown into a comprehensive strategic partnership since President Xi’s visit.

China attaches great importance to the China-UAE ties and views the nation as a natural partner in the construction of the Belt and Road.

China is willing to propel the development of bilateral ties along with the United Arab Emirates, said Wei.

With high-level military exchanges between the countries getting exceedingly frequent in recent years, practical cooperation is proving fruitful.

China is willing to step up military cooperation with the United Arab Emirates by implementing the consensus between the leaderships of the two countries, Wei added.

Wei also held a meeting with Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, the UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs.
