State councilor meets with Uzbek PM

Wei Fenghe, state councilor and defense minister, met with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Tashkent on April 27.

China and Uzbekistan go back a long way, Wei said, and China-Uzbekistan ties and political mutual trust have been developing along the way, with many achievements under the guidance of their respective leaders.

Bilateral military pragmatic cooperation has been exceedingly on the rise over the past few years, substantially boosting regional peace and stability.

China is willing to carry out the consensus reached by both leaders, step up strategic communication, and deepen pragmatic cooperation, in a bid to help the military ties scale new heights, Wei said.

Aripov agreed that China and Uzbekistan are key partners. And the Belt and Road Initiative, dedicated to exploring new modes and fields of international cooperation, has been widely recognized and accepted worldwide.

Uzbekistan maintains its unwavering fight against terrorism, tribalism, and extremism, Aripov added, and the country is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in fields across the board, in order to benefit people of both countries.
