University students are a trustworthy generation with high expectations from the people, and universities are responsible for cultivating socialism builders and successors, Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan said at a work conference in Beijing on the construction of CPC, ideology and politics in universities on Oct 9. Sun is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The vice-premier called for reform and innovation in the ideology and politics lessons. Lessons should be more practical and close to real life, through which students can establish ideals, develop fine qualities, and master knowledge and skills, she stressed.
