BEIJING — Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan, on Dec 3, called for sustained efforts in epidemic prevention and control during this winter and spring next year.
The professional advantages of the disease control system should be given full play, said Sun while inspecting the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. She called for enhanced capabilities to respond to emergencies and control diseases.
Sun had a symposium with experts on epidemic development trends and prevention advice.
Considering the severe epidemic conditions around the world, China still faces pressure in terms of guarding against imported COVID-19 cases, as well as an epidemic rebound within the country, experts said, noting that China's current measures are working and should be maintained.
Sun stressed strengthened monitoring and analysis, more active and targeted measures, better information sharing, professional epidemiological surveys and source tracing work, and more support for disease control from various levels of governments and different departments.
