Vice-Premier Ma Kai will attend the 2015 CeBIT, the world’s top trade fair for information and communications technology, in Hannover, Germany, at the invitation of the German government.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Hong Lei made the announcement on March 10.

The Vice-premier is scheduled to be in Germany from March 15 to 20, participating in a series of activities at CeBIT - as China is the official partner country of the upcoming tech fair.

Ma will also preside over the first Sino-German High-Level Economic and Finance Dialogue, Hong said.

Chinese officials said in Berlin on Feb 10 that China would aim to be more high-profile than ever at CeBIT - sending over 600 exhibitors to showcase the country’s leading position in IT.

China’s central pavilion is set to cover 2,500 square meters, with 20 participating enterprises - such as Huawei, ZTE and Alibaba, and other high-tech firms which “have influence” in Germany.

Statistics from the German IT industry association BITKOM show that China has for many years been Germany’s most important customer - by far - for IT products.
