Vice-Premier Ma Kai and German Chancellor Angela Merkel praise bilateral cooperation in the field of innovation during their meeting in Hanover on March 15.

Ma, who is attending the CeBIT 2015 in the German city, conveyed to Merkel the greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

He told Merkel that China is willing to deepen mutual trust and step up cooperation in innovation, finance and manufacturing with Germany.

While 2014 marked the establishment of an all-around strategic partnership between the two countries, Ma said this year’s tour is aimed at implementing the many agreements reached by leaders of both nations last year.

Merkel asked Ma to extend her good wishes to President Xi and Premier Li.

She said Berlin and Beijing in recent years have enjoyed increasingly close exchanges and cooperation in various fields and she expected the bilateral cooperation to reach a new high with the launch of the Year of Germany-China Innovation Cooperation.

The participation of more than 600 Chinese enterprises in the fair demonstrates China’s strength in the field of information and telecommunication technologies, Merkel said.

CeBIT will be on show during March 16-20 with China as the partner country this year.

Ma and Merkel delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the CeBIT.

Ma also discussed with German Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy and technology.
