On Nov 30, Vice-Premier Ma Kai urged giving more priority to the development of postdoctoral talent to further boost their role in mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

The vice-premier was addressing a symposium on young Chinese postdoctoral talent in Beijing. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the postdoctoral system in China.

Stressing the importance of postdoctoral talent for building an intelligently powerful country, the vice-premier urged implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and giving more priority to the development of talent.

He also urged solving the major problems restricting career development of postdoctoral researchers and improving the quality of postdoctoral talent cultivation.

Institutional reform must be explored and more policy support provided to give postdoctoral fellows a bigger role in mass entrepreneurship and innovation, he added.

The vice-premier also called on postdoctoral researchers to participate in the pursuit of the Chinese Dream and play a leading role in technological innovation and mass entrepreneurship.
