State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met the delegation of the Hong Kong Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce on Aug 27 in Beijing.

The General Chamber of Commerce has made positive contributions to Hong Kong’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability, Wang said.

He hoped people from all walks of life in Hong Kong would firmly support the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in its efforts to curb violence and chaos, restore social order and fulfill official duties in accordance with the law.

He also said he believed that Hong Kong would definitely overcome the current situation and harbor a brighter future with the support of the central government, the positive actions of the SAR government and united efforts of Hong Kong compatriots.

Wang also encouraged the General Chamber of Commerce to make contributions to Hong Kong's economic and social development, youth development and the SAR's participation in the national development strategy.
