UNITED NATIONS — The preventive counterterrorism and deradicalization measures taken in China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region are China's important contribution to the international counterterrorism cause, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sept 25.
It has been proven that the deradicalization measures in Xinjiang have been highly effective and they are useful explorations in preventive counterterrorism, concrete steps in implementing the UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism, Wang said while addressing a Security Council ministerial debate on the cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations in maintaining international peace and security.
