PARIS — State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that China supports the process of European integration, the European Union's (EU) solidarity and growth, and Europe in playing a more active role in global affairs.
In an interview with the AFP news agency during his visit to France on Oct 21, Wang said these "three supports" are a strategic choice after careful consideration.
Wang said he hoped that the EU will also pursue a more friendly policy towards China.
Wang noted that China and the EU have no conflict of fundamental interests, and both promote global multi-polarization and multilateralism, and uphold the position and authority of the United Nations.
Facing an uncertain and unstable global environment, the two sides should join hands, enhance solidarity and cooperation, inject positive energy to the world, and contribute to global peace and stability, Wang said.
