BRUSSELS — The path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a path of development, success, peace and win-win progress, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said in Brussels on Dec 16.
In a speech at the European Policy Center, a think tank, Wang said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
"In the past several decades, we have completed a journey that took developed countries hundreds of years to accomplish because we have found a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the Communist Party of China," Wang said.
"While accelerating our own development, we have also contributed to the common development of our cooperation partners," he added.
Herman Van Rompuy, formal president of the European Council, was moderating the speech.
Van Rompuy once put it: "direction is more important than speed," Wang noted.
"Since the direction of China is right, why should China change its course? And since it is in everyone's interests, why should China be changed? " Wang asked.
