CAIRO — State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry jointly hosted a diplomatic strategic dialogue on Jan 8 in Cairo, Egypt.

Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has been maintaining rapid development, Wang said.

China is willing to work with Egypt to explore ways to jointly build a China-Egypt community with a shared future, Wang added.

Wang urged the two countries to further promote the joint building of the Belt and Road, and push forward cooperation in various fields such as production capacity, trade and economics, culture, and safety.

For his part, Shoukry said Egypt is willing to work with China to implement the consensuses reached by the two heads of state, enhance the joint building of the Belt and Road, and strengthen communication and coordination in multilateral affairs.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional hotspot issues such as the ones concerning Libya and Syria, as well as the Iranian nuclear issue.
