State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lana Nusseibeh and Joanna Wronecka, co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on United Nations Security Council Reform during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Wang said the UN mechanism is of great significance. The United Nations Security Council reform is supposed to reinforce UNSC's authority and efficacy and raise the voice of developing, middle, and small countries on international issues, backed up by extensive democratic consultation and member nation representation.

Nusseibeh and Wronecka praised China's contribution to safeguarding multilateralism and underpinning the UN. They expressed wishes China would continue to play a constructive role in safeguarding the UN system.
