LANZHOU — State Councilor Wang Yong has called for concrete efforts to ensure basic living standards of people in difficult circumstances and services for people with disabilities.
Wang made the remarks during his inspection tour in Northwest China's Gansu province from Jan 16 to Jan 17, where he visited welfare institutions for the elderly, daycare centers and service facilities for disabled.
Wang noted that ensuring the basic livelihood of people living in difficulties is the key responsibility of governments at all levels.
Assistance funds should be allocated on time, and a coordination mechanism linking social assistance and insurance standards with inflation should be launched timely, according to Wang.
He also urged more efforts to step up the building of service facilities for the elderly, children and the disabled to better guarantee people's livelihood.
