State Councilor Wang Yong took an inspection tour to Central China's Hunan province this week, investigating the work on flood prevention and production safety.
Wang stressed all-out efforts to ensure a safe flood season and prevent severe disasters and accidents.
From June 27 to 28, Wang checked the work on flood prevention, rescue preparations, and production safety during his field tours through landslide risk treatment projects at the Dongting Lake dike, emergency material storehouses for flood and drought prevention, and chemical and gas enterprises.
Noting the ongoing flooding season, Wang said that departments concerned should stay alert, and take sufficient measures on flood control and production safety ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Supervision and inspection should be further strengthened, and the related accountability system and watch system should be enforced.
Related departments should ensure close attention to key dikes, timely monitoring of rainfall and flood, scientific operations of water conservancy projects, strengthened patrols, sufficient flood relief materials, and disaster relief and evacuation, Wang said.
Wang pressed for unblocking river flows and pipe networks, augmenting combined drainage of flood and waterlogging, and strict precautions against flood disasters triggered by torrential rain.
In addition, Wang urged departments concerned to draw a lesson from the recent accidents, beef up safety management in key areas, units, and events, with a thorough check on any safety threats.
