State councilor meets with guests from Cambodia and DPRK

Wei Fenghe, State councilor and minister of national defense, met with Nem Sowath, director-general of the General Department of Policy and Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia and Yon Kyong Chol, director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau under the Ministry of the People’s Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Sept 24 in Beijing.

During his meeting with Nem Sowath, Wei said China-Cambodia ties have reached a significant milestone under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.

China is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation with Cambodia including national defense, building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future, and contributing to regional peace, security and prosperity, Wei said.

Nem Sowath added that Cambodia is willing to maintain mutual support, deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in all fields and propel China-Cambodia ties to new heights.

When meeting with Yon Kyong Chol, Wei said the five meetings between the top leaders of both sides greatly boosted China-DPRK ties and ushered in a new phase of relations for both sides.

The Chinese military forces are willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the DPRK and further improve China-DPRK military ties, in a bid to consolidate their traditional friendship and uphold an orderly regional environment.

Yon Kyong Chol said the DPRK is willing to join China to strengthen multifaceted exchanges and cooperation, and promote new development in the relations between the two countries and militaries.
