State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe met with Bounnhang Vorachit, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, on Nov 14 in Vientiane, capital of Laos.

China and Laos are a community with a shared future sharing weal and woe, Wei said. By supporting each other the two sides have seen both bilateral and military ties move on a sound, steady trajectory, with exchanges in various areas bearing fruit, he added.

Wei said the military of China is willing to work with the Lao side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, boost strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation and coordinate closely in multilateral issues, to facilitate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

For his part, Bounnhang welcomed the state councilor to his country.

Laos praises the great achievements of the People’s Republic of China over the past 70 years since its establishment, Bounnhang said.

He noted the two countries’ military ties are entering their best period ever when the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is well underway, declaring his country’s full support for the two militaries to conduct deeper, more substantive exchanges across different fields and levels, in pursuit of stronger solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Wei also held talks with Lao Defense Minister Chansamone Chanyalath on Nov 13, when he started an official friendly visit to Laos.
