The national meeting of secretary-generals and directors of general offices was held in Beijing on Dec 25 via video link.

State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

He emphasized that the government office system should adapt to the new situation, new tasks and new requirements in an active way.

The employees in the system should strengthen overall planning, innovate government services, support government work with suggestions, and pay close attention to policy implementation, so as to promote high-quality development and make new and greater contributions to a good start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, he stressed.

Xiao noted that embarking on a new journey at a new stage, the government office system must give full play to its role as the government's operation center and adviser in government functions transformation and efficiency improvement.

It is necessary to enhance political awareness, be aware of the overall picture, strengthen policy coordination, increase effectiveness of supervision and inspection, and strengthen the Party building and capacity building to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Party with excellent achievements, he added.
