Efforts should be made to crack down hard on new types of internet-based crimes and resolutely curb the prevalence of fraud conducted through telecom and the internet, to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the public, State Councilor and Public Security Minister Zhao Kezhi said.
Zhao made the remarks on Dec 7 during an inspection of the National Anti-Fraud Center, a platform under the State Council for fighting telecom and internet crimes, where he inquired about the center’s work and visited with public security officers.
Zhao required focusing on issues of greatest concern to the people, launching special campaigns to control the occurrence of major crimes such as telecom and internet fraud, and helping recover victims’ losses as much as possible.
Forces and resources across society should be mobilized to create a new anti-fraud model that relies on joint efforts and integrated governance by all, he said.
He stressed the importance of big data and intelligent tools for higher efficiency in studying, warning against, preventing and handling crimes.
Practical exercises are necessary for building a team with expertise needed to deal with changing situations, he added.
