State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi on Feb 11 inspected security work during the Spring Festival holiday and visited police officers and auxiliary police personnel on duty in Beijing, urging them to ensure a happy, peaceful and safe holiday for the public.

Zhao inspected grassroots police stations and teams, community police rooms and street police spots, sending greetings and new year wishes to those working on the frontline.

He urged cracking down on property-infringing crimes, such as telecommunication and internet fraud, severe violent crimes, pornography, gambling, drug abuse and trafficking, and crimes against food safety.

More efforts should be made to intensify the investigation and rectification of hidden dangers, tighten approval and management of large-scale public events and strengthen traffic safety management to prevent major accidents, he said.

Also, security work at quarantine and nucleic acid testing sites should be enhanced, and control of exiting and entering the country at ports and border management should be strengthened to coordinate with epidemic prevent and control.

A 24-hour shift system with leaders’ guidance should be guaranteed to safeguard safety and stability, Zhao said.
