State Councilor Zhao Kezhi on April 30 urged efforts in implementing drug control measures and solving prominent drug problems, as well as improving the drug control system, to create a safe and stable social environment for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
Zhao, also director of the China National Narcotic Control Committee, made the remarks at a national teleconference on drug control.
Stressing strict drug control, Zhao urged preventing drugs from entering the country across the border, strengthening drug investigation and regulation, and deepening the crackdown on new-types of drug-related crime.
He also urged improvement of drug rehabilitation work and assistance services.
Special efforts should be focused on rural areas with drug problems, Zhao added.
Drug control systems and governance capabilities should be further modernized, he said.
